Why This App Exists

It all started with a simple wedding request...

When a dear friend asked me to photograph their wedding, I wanted to create something special for their guests too. I searched everywhere for an iPad photo booth app that could capture both photos and video messages for the guestbook.

What I found was disappointing: apps that were either ridiculously expensive, locked behind monthly subscriptions, had time-limited features, or simply didn't support video guestbooks at all.

So I did what any developer would do – I built my own solution.

Since building the app, I've used it at two weddings. I set up an iPad with the app connected to an Apple AirPrint printer. Guests could take photos and immediately get them printed as keepsakes to take home.

Both times it worked great. Just keep an eye on the printer though - you'll need to refill the paper faster than you think! Guests love getting instant prints.

My setup: I used an iPad Pro 11" with my app and a Canon SELPHY CP1500 photo printer. The tricky part was getting wireless printing to work. A regular iPhone hotspot didn't enable Apple AirPrint functionality, so I brought a GL.iNet GL-MT3000 router that could connect to the venue's internet and create a local WiFi network. Both the iPad and printer joined this WiFi network so guests could instantly print their photos or send them per EMail.

Important: This app is designed for iPad cameras and AirPrint-compatible printers because that's what I had and wanted to use. While you may experiment with professional equipment such as DSLR cameras or USB-connected cameras, I can't guarantee they'll work since I haven't tested them. 📧 How do I setup email sharing?

You can use your Gmail, Outlook, or any SMTP provider.

📧 Email Setup Guide

To send photos by email directly from the app, you need to connect it to your email provider's SMTP server.

📨Gmail

Go to your Google App Passwords page and create a new App Password.
(You need this because normal Gmail passwords don't work for apps.)
In the app's SMTP settings, enter:

                                SMTP Host: smtp.gmail.com

                                Port: 587

                                Encryption: TLS

                                Username: your full Gmail address (e.g. you@gmail.com)

                                Password: the App Password you just created

                                From Email: your Gmail address

📧Outlook / Office 365 / Hotmail

If you have Two-Factor Authentication, create an App Password in your Microsoft account.

In the app's SMTP settings, enter:

                                SMTP Host: smtp-mail.outlook.com

                                Port: 587

                                Encryption: TLS

                                Username: your full Outlook/Office365 email

                                Password: your normal password (or App Password if you created one)

                                From Email: your Outlook/Hotmail address

🚀MailerSend

MailerSend is a reliable email service with a generous free tier.

Create a MailerSend account.
Verify your domain or use their shared domain for testing.
Go to Settings → API Tokens and create a new token with "Email sending" permission.
In the app's SMTP settings, enter:

                                SMTP Host: smtp.mailersend.net

                                Port: 587

                                Encryption: TLS

                                Username: MS_xxxxx (your MailerSend username from Settings → SMTP)

                                Password: your API Token

                                From Email: the email address you verified in MailerSend

⚠️Troubleshooting

If emails don't send, check that your password is correct (App Password for Gmail/Outlook).
Make sure the From Email is the same as your account's email.
Try the alternate port (465 with SSL) if 587 doesn't work.

🖨️ What printers work?

Any AirPrint-compatible printer works. Popular choices: Canon SELPHY series, HP Sprocket, or any WiFi printer that supports AirPrint. Just connect both your iPad and printer to the same WiFi network.

📱 Do I need internet?

Nope! The app works completely offline. You only need internet if you want email sharing. Photos and printing work without any connection.

💾 Where are photos saved?

All photos save directly to your iPad in a "Guest Frame" album. No cloud, no servers – your memories stay on your device.

💡 Best event setup?

Use an iPad stand/tripod, keep it plugged in, and if printing – bring a small WiFi router if the venue doesn't have reliable WiFi.
